In 2019, 27% of our female workforce completed Centerra’s pilot female leadership program, Leading from Within.
In 2021, our Leading from Within champions will lead a second round of training for new women in the Company and to reinforce the principles for graduates.
In 2020, Centerra Gold became a Silver Partner sponsor of International Women in Mining (IWiM), a leading global women’s organization pursuing gender equality and promoting women’s voices, access to opportunities and leadership in mining.
Centerra is committed to pursuing greater representation of women throughout our organization at all levels, and we are pleased to partner with IWiM in our aligned efforts of promoting cohesion, collaboration and a global united voice for women in the mining industry.
Centerra’s partnership with IWiM provides support to further enhance our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, with specific focus and attention on removing barriers for women in the workplace.
In 2020, our initiatives expanded beyond gender equality to help create a more inclusive culture across the Company.
In 2020 our global Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee developed an 18-month roadmap in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI).
With the establishment of a global plan of action to conduct a current state assessment of Centerra’s diversity, equity and inclusion status across locations, we have since launched a Global Executive DE&I Council tasked with charting the course for strategic initiatives pertaining to DE&I company-wide, along with Regional DE&I Committees which will serve to represent the local communities in which we operate.
As of February 2021, Centerra Gold employees have completed >800 hours of training on diversity, equity and inclusion, with a particular focus on recognizing unconscious bias.
As our work continues, issues around cultural sensitivity, equal pay for equal work, hiring, recruitment and retention practices, and camp facilities and accommodation will be considered.
