In 2023, the British Columbia Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation honoured Centerra and Chu Cho Environmental with its 46th Annual Mine Reclamation Award in the Metal Mine Category, in recognition of their efforts at Mount Milligan. The award acknowledges their commitment to enhancing land capability through the strategic collection, propagation and planting of native seedlings and aligns with the cultural values of First Nations people. By incorporating the knowledge of Elders, the program identifies target species suitable for specific site conditions.
The award highlights Centerra’s approach to responsible mine reclamation practices, emphasizing sustainability, cultural integration, and adaptability to ensure long-term success in the mining industry.
