Agricultural Equipment Donation for Local SMEs in Kayseri

Centerra understands the importance of local procurement and is committed to removing barriers to entry faced by local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the Kayseri province of Türkiye, where our Öksüt Mine is located, livestock farming and agriculture is a critical industry.

Agricultural Equipment Support Project

In the Öksüt region, the Agricultural Equipment Support Project has provided equipment to families and small businesses, such as shaft shearing machines, stone pickers, fertilizer dispensers, and cereal screening machines. These pieces of equipment help lower the cost of work, increase productivity, improve working conditions, and produce a healthier and more hygienic product. As a result, the project has the ability to improve the livelihoods of individuals and enhance personal economic growth.

Shaft shearing machines, stone pickers, fertilizer dispensers, and cereal screening machines supplied by the Öksüt Mine are delivered to neighbourhoods in cooperation with the Develi Municipality. This equipment helps local agricultural businesses obtain maximum productivity in a short period of time.

For example, the stone picker increases productivity by facilitating soil processing and enabling an easy and correct preparation of the seed bed by collecting stones on the surface of the fertile cultivated areas located in the region. Additionally, fertilizer dispensers increase soil fertility by distributing a sufficient amount of fertilizer evenly into the soil and ensuring the soil remains healthier.

Project Impacts

As of June 2020, approximately 1,000 families have received agricultural equipment in the Develi District. To date, Öksüt’s contribution has totalled US$164,900 for the seven different types of equipment.
